Regular Season Round 17: Turk Telekom - Karsiyaka 70-76
Date: February 6, 2016
No shocking result in a game in Ankara where fifth ranked Karsiyaka (11-6) defeated 15th ranked Turk Telekom (4-12) 76-70 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Turk Telekom won third quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Karsiyaka dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Turk Telekom's 20 and made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American-Guinea-Bissau center Colton Iverson (212-89, college: Colorado St., agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Lazeric Jones (182-90, college: UCLA) chipped in 14 points. American-Georgian point guard Ben Woodside (180-85, college: N.Dakota St., agency: Priority Sports) produced 14 points and 9 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American guard Michael Jenkins (193-86, college: Winthrop) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Karsiyaka. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Banvit BK. Loser Turk Telekom keeps the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. Karsiyaka will face bottom-ranked Istanbul BSB (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Turk Telekom will play against Besiktas in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
