Regular Season Round 20: Rovinari - BC Timisoara 85-77

Rather expected game when 11th ranked BC Timisoara (4-16) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu (9-11) 85-77. BC Timisoara was ahead by 12 points after three quarters before a 29-9 charge of CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. American center Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The other American import point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. Five CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu players scored in double figures. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu's coach Hristu Sapera allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Serbian Stefan Zivanovic (196-89) replied with 25 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and Bulgarian forward Veselin Veselinov (202-83, college: W.Virginia St.) added 16 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for BC Timisoara. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Dinamo B. BC Timisoara at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu will play against higher ranked Steaua CSM (#4) in Bucuresti in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BC Timisoara will play at home against Pitesti (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
