There was no surprise when 5th ranked AstroStars (10-8) were defeated on the road by second ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (13-5) 73-68. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American guard Demetrius Ward (188-90, college: W.Michigan) notched 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and point guard Tobias Welzel (183-90) supported him with 14 points and 5 assists. Ward is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 15 points and 6 assists by guard Felix Engel (191-91) did not help to save the game for AstroStars. American guard Rashaun Claiborne (193-90, college: N.Alabama) added 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. AstroStars' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Herzoege Wolfenbuettel maintains second position in North with 13-5 record having just two points less than leader Iserlohn. AstroStars at the other side dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel's next round opponent will be RSV Eintracht (#9) in Stahnsdorf and are hoping to win another game. AstroStars will play at home against SG Schwelmer Baskets and hope to win that game.
