Regular Season Round 23: Arkadia - Oberwart 71-72

Date: February 7, 2016
There was no surprise in Traiskirchen where 6th ranked Arkadia Lions (10-13) were edged by third ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (13-10) 72-71 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-71. Redwell Gunners Oberwart forced 20 Arkadia Lions turnovers. Arkadia Lions were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Quincy Diggs (198-90, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Derek Jackson (185-91, college: Kent St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) chipped in 14 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Redwell Gunners Oberwart players scored in double figures. Argentinian-Italian forward Fabricio Vay (207-86, agency: Interperformances) produced 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Benedikt Danek (176-86) added 8 points and 8 assists respectively for the hosts. Redwell Gunners Oberwart moved-up to second place, which they share with Furstenfeld. Arkadia Lions at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 13 games lost. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will face Dukes (#7) in Klosterneuburg in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Arkadia Lions will play on the road against Gmunden Swans in Gmunden and hope to win that game.
