Regular Season Round 18: Osnabruck - Oberhausen 69-52
Date: February 7, 2016
Bottom-ranked Osnabruck managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time newly promoted Osnabruck won against tenth-ranked Oberhausen 69-52. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference proves that Osnabruck was well-prepared to that game. The game was mostly controlled by Osnabruck. Oberhausen was better in second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Osnabruck outrebounded Oberhausen 55-28 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Oberhausen was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Jasmine Thomas (170-91, college: Michigan St.) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Katelyn McDaniel (182-93, college: San Diego) chipped in 11 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Osnabruck's coach Juliane Hoehne allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Chassidy Fussell (178-92, college: Texas) with 19 points and 6 rebounds and Sarah Zierhut (180) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Osnabruck (3-15) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Chemnitz. Oberhausen at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Donau-Ries. Osnabruck will play against league's second-placed TV Saarlouis Royals on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Oberhausen will play against TH Wohnbau Angels (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
