Top ranked Anadolu Efes (12-4) recorded its fourth loss in Istanbul. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Galatasaray (12-5) 85-78. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Anadolu Efes. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-11. But Anadolu Efes won second period 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Galatasaray shot 63.3 percent from the field. Serbian forward Vladimir Micov (201-85, agency: Beo Basket) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Gabonese center Stephane Lasme (203-82, college: Massachusetts) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. French point guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: Beo Basket) answered with 14 points and 5 assists and Uruguayan-Italian guard Jayson Granger (188-89) added 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Anadolu Efes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Anadolu Efes' coach Dusan Ivkovic rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Galatasaray. They maintain third place with 12-5 record behind leader Fener.Ulker. Anadolu Efes at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. Galatasaray will play against Royal Hali (#9) in Gaziantep in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Anadolu Efes will play on the road against Banvit BK (#4) in Balikesir and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
