The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Mersin Uni's (7-9) home victory over 8th ranked Urla BLD (5-10) 79-67 on Friday. Mersin Uni looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and Gizem Kumandanoglu (-94) who added 17 points, 7 assists and 5 steals during the contest. At the losing side American center Molly Schlemer (196-92, college: Cal Poly - SLO) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and forward Tugba Kilinc (180-82) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Mersin Uni maintains seventh position in Group B with 7-9 record. Loser Urla BLD keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Mersin Uni will face higher ranked Istanbulgucu (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Urla BLD will play against TED Ankara (#5) and hope to win that game.
