Eighteenth-ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (2-19) gave a tough game to eleventh ranked Giessen 46ers (10-11) in Weissenfels on Friday. The visitors from Giessen managed to secure only two-point victory 70-68. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 16 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 2 points. British center Gabriel Olaseni (211-91, college: Iowa, agency: Pensack Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) chipped in 8 points and 9 rebounds. Giessen 46ers' coach Denis Wucherer allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Frantz Massenat (193-92, college: Drexel) produced 20 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Tashawn Thomas (203-93, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Giessen 46ers maintains eleventh position with 10-11 record. Mitteldeutscher BC lost tenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Giessen 46ers will meet at home Telekom Baskets (#13) in the next round. Mitteldeutscher BC will play against Crailsheim Merlins (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
