Second Stage Round 5: Rasai - Petrochema 98-75

There was a small surprise in Raseiniai where eleventh ranked Rasai (11-19) smashed 8th ranked Petrochema (13-17) 98-75 on Friday. The game without a history. Rasai led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 25-of-27 free shots (92.6 percent) during the game. Rasai looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Petrochema was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center Vilius Sumskis (213-84, agency: Interperformances) who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Zydrunas Kelys (187-87) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Forward Henrikas Vorotnikovas (203-90) produced 20 points and forward Tomas Milinskas (202-90) added 12 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rasai maintains eleventh place with 11-19 record. Petrochema lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 17 games lost. Rasai will face higher ranked Nafta-Uni. (#8) in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
