Regular Season Round 20: Tofas - Meliksah 83-60

TBL top team - Tofas (20-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Meliksah (8-12) in Bursa 83-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Meliksah. The game without a history. Tofas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Meliksah to just 6 points in third quarter. Tofas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) who scored that evening 7 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international forward Umit Sonkol (206-82) supported him with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Tofas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds by forward Azizcan Ozdemir (201-88) did not help to save the game for Meliksah. Point guard Bulut Altin (188-93, agency: Octagon Europe) added 15 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tofas have an impressive 20-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-0 record. Loser Meliksah dropped to the tenth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Tofas will meet Akhisar Bld (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Meliksah will play against Afyon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
