Regular Season Round 19: Bochum - Schwelm 83-77

Very predictable result when sixth ranked AstroStars (11-8) won against 12th ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (5-14) in Bochum 83-77 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. AstroStars looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. SG Schwelmer Baskets were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American Ryon Howard (198-84, college: Sacred Heart) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard Clay Wilson (190-92, college: Princeton) contributed with 22 points for the winners. American swingman Domonique Crawford (196-84, college: Youngstown St.) answered with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Mathias Perl (188-89) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for SG Schwelmer Baskets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. AstroStars moved-up to fourth place in North, which they share with Art.Dragons and Oldenburg. SG Schwelmer Baskets lost their eighth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost. AstroStars will face league's leader Iserlohn on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SG Schwelmer Baskets will play against RSV Eintracht (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
