Regular Season Round 28: Vytautas - Nevezis 80-76

Very expected game when 9th ranked Nevezis (8-17) lost to fourth ranked Vytautas (13-12) in Prienai 76-80 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game by 4 points. Vytautas made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game, while Nevezis only scored four points from the stripe. The winners were led by forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) who scored that evening 24 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Vaidas Cepukaitis (207-89, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Vytautas players scored in double figures. Even 24 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by point guard Darius Gvezdauskas (191-88) did not help to save the game for Nevezis. Forward Andrius Aleksandrovas (197-86) added 11 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Nevezis' coach Ramunas Cvirka rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vytautas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Neptunas. Loser Nevezis keeps the ninth position with 17 games lost. Vytautas will meet bottom-ranked Dzukija (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nevezis will play against Juventus in Utena and hope to secure a win.
