Second Stage Round 7: Chaika - DVUFK 73-56

Bottom-ranked DVUFK (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 73-56 loss to fifth ranked Chaika (2-2) in Berdiansk. It looked good early as DVUFK took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Chaika had a 20-10 second period charge getting the lead and DVUFK was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 56-73. Chaika forced 19 DVUFK turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Anastasiya Polovynka (180-96) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Olga Yatskovets (183-97) accounted for 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Chaika players scored in double figures. Swingman Viola Onyshchenko (181-90) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Larisa Yaburova (189-89) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for DVUFK in the defeat. Chaika moved-up to third place, which they share with Kondicioner. DVUFK at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
