A very interesting game took place in Balikesir. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Akhisar Bld (8-12) to fifteenth ranked Bandirma Kir. (7-13) 80-77 on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Bandirma Kir. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was American power forward R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) who scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import point guard Phil Greene IV (187-92, college: St.John's) chipped in 24 points. Center Hakan Yapar (202-84) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and American forward D.J. Shelton (208-91, college: Washington St.) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Akhisar Bld's coach Zafer Aktas tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Bandirma Kir. maintains fifteenth position with 7-13 record. Akhisar Bld at the other side keeps the tenth place with 12 games lost. Bandirma Kir.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Gelisim (#9) in Izmir and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
