Regular Season Round 28: Zalgiris - Lietkabelis 92-59

LKL top team - Zalgiris (23-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Lietkabelis (11-14) in Kaunas 92-59. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Lietkabelis' 32. Zalgiris forced 19 Lietkabelis turnovers and outrebounded them 46-26 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Lietkabelis' players. Worth to mention a quality performance of Australian power forward Brock Motum (208-90, college: Washington St.) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Paulius Jankunas (205-84) who added 14 points during the contest. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach Sarunas Jasikevicius felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Serbian guard Miljan Pavkovic (178-81) responded with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Zalgiris have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 23-2 record. Lietkabelis at the other side keeps the sixth place with 14 games lost. Zalgiris will play against P.Zvaigzdes (#8) in Pasvalys in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lietkabelis will play on the road against Siauliai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
