Second Stage Round 7: Palanga - Vytis 67-75

The game between second ranked Palanga (17-15) and sixth ranked Vytis (25-7) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Palanga unexpectedly was defeated by in Palanga 67-75. The guests trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 42-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 21 rebounds and 4 blocks. Guard Ignas Vaitkus (183-98) helped adding 17 points. Vytis' coach Nerijus Zabarauskas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Titus Robinson (201-90, college: Buffalo) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and the other American import forward RJ Sims (196, college: E.Mennonite) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Palanga players scored in double figures. Vytis moved-up to second place. Palanga at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Zalgiris II. Vytis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Palanga will play again on the road against the league's second-placed Vytis (#2) in Sakiai and is hoping to win this game.
