Regular Season Round 26: Oberwart - Vienna 83-80 OT

Vienna (#3) forced the game against Redwell Gunners Oberwart (#2) into an overtime, but lost by three points 80-83 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vienna. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime then Vienna managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Redwell Gunners Oberwart who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 9-6. The best player for the winners was American guard Quincy Diggs (198-90, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who scored 27 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Lithuanian center Adomas Drungilas (203-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Redwell Gunners Oberwart's coach Chris Chougaz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) produced 23 points and 7 assists and American-Bahamas forward Jonathan Fairell (201-93, college: Murray St., agency: Duran International) added 14 points and 14 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Vienna players scored in double figures. Redwell Gunners Oberwart (16-10) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position having five points less than leader Gussing. Vienna at the other side keeps the third place with 11 games lost. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will face Furstenfeld Panthers (#4) on the road in the next round. Vienna will play against Gmunden Swans and hope to win that game.
