Regular Season Round 23: Istanbul DSI - Mamak DSI 80-75

Bottom-ranked Istanbul DSI managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the series of six consecutive losses on Friday night. This time they won against thirteenth-ranked Mamak DSI 80-75. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-75. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Serhat Buker (202-81) accounted for 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. American guard Ricky Harris (187-87, college: Massachusetts) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 assists and the other American import power forward Brandon Peterson (204-90, college: Arkansas St.) added 12 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Mamak DSI in the defeat. Mamak DSI's coach Haydar Kemal Ates tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Istanbul DSI (5-18) moved-up to seventeenth place. Loser Mamak DSI dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Socar Petkim. Istanbul DSI will meet higher ranked Gediz (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mamak DSI will play against Pertevniyal (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
