Regular Season Round 23: Denizli - Gediz 63-54

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Gediz (17-6) against fourth ranked Denizli (16-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Gediz was defeated by Denizli in a tough game in Denizli 54-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gediz. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gediz won third quarter 16-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American point guard Kenny Boynton (188-91, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) helped adding 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. Denizli's coach Hakan Yavuz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Bosnian-Slovenian center Hasan Rizvic (212-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and American point guard Demontez Stitt (187-89, college: Clemson, agency: HMS) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Denizli maintains fourth place with 16-7 record, which they share with Sakarya BSB. Gediz at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Denizli will play against Sakarya BSB (#5) in Sakaraya in the next round. Gediz will play at home against Istanbul DSI and hopes to get back on the winning track.
