Regular Season Round 21: Oldenburg - Schwelm 93-88

Date: February 27, 2016
Very predictable result when fifth ranked Oldenburg (13-8) beat at home 12th ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (5-16) 93-88 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Oldenburg made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game. SG Schwelmer Baskets were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Dominic Lockhart (198-94) who scored 21 points and 6 assists. American guard Chris Gorman (180-93, college: Vanguard) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Frederik Henningsen (198-88) who recorded 34 points (!!!) (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and guard Mathias Perl (188-89) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. Five Oldenburg and four SG Schwelmer Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Oldenburg moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Bochum and Rostock. SG Schwelmer Baskets lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Oldenburg will face league's second-placed Herzoege Wolfenbuettel on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SG Schwelmer Baskets will play against Rostock (#4) and hope to win that game.
