Regular Season Round 25: Gotha - Dragons 93-47

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (2-23) was outplayed on the road by fourth ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (18-7) 93-47 on Saturday. The game without a history. Oettinger Rockets Gotha led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Dragons Rhoendorf's 28. Oettinger Rockets Gotha looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American power forward Joe Lawson (201-92, college: Indianapolis, agency: Interperformances) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Marco Voeller (201-89) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side forward Alexander Angerer (202-96) responded with 14 points and point guard Viktor Frankl-Maus (186-93) scored 7 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Oettinger Rockets Gotha. They moved-up to third place. Dragons Rhoendorf lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 23 lost games. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will face ETB Wohnbau (#14) in Essen in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Dragons Rhoendorf will play at home against Gladiators and hope to win that game.
