There was a minor upset when CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu (10-14) lost at home to Phoenix Galati (10-14) 89-81 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 27-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Phoenix Galati shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American point guard Jay Threatt (180-89, college: Delaware St.) notched 26 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and Serbian swingman Milos Bojovic (198-81, agency: 011 Sports) supported him with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds by center Szabolcs Santa (209-87) did not help to save the game for CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu. American guard Paris Horne (191-87, college: St.John's) added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Phoenix Galati will meet at home Pitesti (#10) in the next round. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu will play against Gaz Metan in Medias and hope to secure a win.
