Second Stage Round 9: Chaika - Dynamo-NPU 67-73

Rather predictable result when second ranked Dynamo-NPU (7-2) won against 5th ranked Chaika (3-4) in Berdiansk 73-67 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-10. But Chaika won second period 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dynamo-NPU forced 26 Chaika turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for Russian forward Elena Koshurina (182-85) who led her team to a victory with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international swingman Iryna Tsekova (177-78) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Anastasiya Polovynka (180-96) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Nadia Teleshyk (173-95) added 10 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Chaika. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second place with 7-2 record having just six point less than leader Interkhim, which they share with Blyskavky. Loser Chaika keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
