There was no surprise in Samsun where 9th ranked Botas (8-12) was defeated by seventh ranked Canik Bld (10-10) 81-73 on Sunday. Canik Bld made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Botas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Natasha Lacy (178-85, college: UTEP) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals and guard Essence Carson (183-86, college: Rutgers) who added 23 points and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) during the contest. Power forward Avery Warley (190-87, college: Liberty) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and D'Andra Moss (178-88, college: VCU, agency: LBM Management) scored 5 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Canik Bld moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Istanbul Univ. Botas lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Gelistirenler. Canik Bld will meet Istanbul Uni (#6) in the next round. Botas will play against Gelistirenler and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
