Regular Season Round 19: Turk Telekom - Yesilgiresun 81-69

There was a minor upset in Ankara where 13th ranked Yesilgiresun (6-13) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Turk Telekom (5-13) 81-69 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-69. Turk Telekom made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game, while Yesilgiresun only scored five points from the stripe. Turk Telekom had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Marcus Haislip (208-80, college: Tennessee) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American-Georgian point guard Ben Woodside (180-85, college: N.Dakota St., agency: Priority Sports) helped adding 13 points and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Turk Telekom's coach Hakan Demir used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American-Ivorian point guard Doron Perkins (189-83, college: Santa Clara) responded with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and American Tony Crocker (200-87, college: Oklahoma) scored 19 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Turk Telekom maintains fifteenth place with 5-13 record. Newly promoted Yesilgiresun dropped to the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Turk Telekom will face bottom-ranked Istanbul BSB (#16) at home in the next round.
