No shocking result in a game in Istanbul where third ranked Mersin (15-5) defeated 10th ranked Gelistirenler (8-12) 88-77 on Sunday. They outrebounded Gelistirenler 41-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Bria Hartley (173-92, college: Connecticut) who added 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. American guard Courtney Vandersloot (173-89, college: Gonzaga) responded with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Swedish Abdi Farhiya (188-92) scored 18 points. Mersin have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Hatay. Gelistirenler lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Botas. Mersin will meet at home Galatasaray (#5) in the next round. Gelistirenler will play against Abdullah Gul (#4) in Kayseri and hope to secure a win.
