Regular Season Round 16: Celje - Konjice 67-84

Very expected game when 10th ranked Celje (6-10) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Konjice (9-7) 84-67 on Friday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Konjice made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Celje turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Anze Zdolsek (177-92) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and guard Tomaz Jereb (192-91) who added 18 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Konjice players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Tadej Kostomaj (187-87) responded with 26 points and 9 rebounds and guard Klemen Pozin (181-95) scored 13 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Konjice moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sezana and Plama Pur. Loser Celje keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Konjice will meet at home higher ranked Triglav (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Celje will play against Sezana (#6) and hope to secure a win.
