Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Istanbul DSI (5-19) was defeated on the road by third ranked Gediz (18-6) 84-71. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Gediz's pressure prevailed and they won that period 26-20 extending their advantage to 13 points. Gediz outrebounded Istanbul DSI 42-30 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American point guard Demontez Stitt (187-89, college: Clemson, agency: HMS) who led his team to a victory with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Bosnian-Slovenian center Hasan Rizvic (212-84) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Four Gediz players scored in double figures. American point guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) replied with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Serhat Buker (202-81) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Istanbul DSI. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gediz maintains third position with 18-6 record having five points less than leader Tofas. Istanbul DSI at the other side keeps the seventeenth place with 19 games lost. Gediz's next round opponent will be Pertevniyal (#11) in Istanbul and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul DSI will play at home against Sakarya BSB (#5) and hope to win that game.
