The game in Kaunas was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Vytis (27-7) played at the court of 5th ranked Zalgiris II (17-17). Vytis managed to secure a 5-point victory 91-86. It looked good early as Zalgiris II took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Vytis had a 31-23 second period charge getting the lead and Zalgiris II was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 86-91. Zalgiris II was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Ignas Vaitkus (183-98) stepped up and scored 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was power forward Laurynas Birutis (210-97) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) scored 15 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vytis have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 27-7 record having just eleven point less than leader Suduva-Mantinga. Zalgiris II lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with 17 games lost. Vytis will play against Telsiai (#7) in Telsiu in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Zalgiris II will play on the road against Perlas-MRU in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
