The game between closely ranked teams ended with 13th ranked Guifoes' (5-6) road loss to twelfth ranked Belenenses CF (7-4) 63-71 on Saturday. Guifoes trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 23-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 63-71 at the end of the game. Belenenses CF made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Belenenses CF outrebounded Guifoes 48-31 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Carlos Dias (197-79) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Tiago Brito (180-85) chipped in 19 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Pedro Meireless (193-95) with 20 points and 5 steals and forward Jose Almeida (199-86) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Belenenses CF moved-up to ninth place in Places 9-16, which they share with Esgueira. Guifoes at the other side keep the thirteenth position with six games lost. Belenenses CF is looking forward to face Esgueira / Oli (#9) at home in the next round. Guifoes will play against Barreirense (#12) in Barreiro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
