Second Stage Round 10: Perlas-MRU - Zalgiris II 73-66

Not a big story in a game in Vilnius where 6th ranked Zalgiris II (17-18) was defeated by fourth ranked Perlas-MRU (19-15) 73-66 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 26-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Perlas-MRU forced 19 Zalgiris II turnovers. Strangely Zalgiris II outrebounded Perlas-MRU 34-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. Zalgiris II was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Margiris Normantas (194-96) scored 11 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Mykolas Dieninis (202-97) chipped in 15 points and 4 steals (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Regimantas Miniotas (206-96) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Perlas-MRU maintains fourth position with 19-15 record. Zalgiris II lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 18 games lost. Perlas-MRU will face league's leader Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
