An interesting game for Utena (19-2) which played road game in Vilnius against 3rd ranked Kibirkstis-VICI (16-6). Second ranked Utena managed to get a 13-point victory 65-52. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Kibirkstis-VICI. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Utena dominated on the defensive end, holding Kibirkstis-VICI to just 5 points in fourth quarter and to 13 points in second half. They made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Utena forced 24 Kibirkstis-VICI turnovers. Forward Ieva Simkute (191-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 11 points and 7 rebounds. International center Kristina Alminaite (205-90) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Utena have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Suduva. Kibirkstis-VICI at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. Utena is looking forward to face Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (#4) at home in the next round. Kibirkstis-VICI will play against the league's leader Suduva in Marijampole and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
