We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when seventh ranked Mersin Gelisim (9-10) beat at home 6th ranked Nevsehir Uni (10-69) 70-58 on Saturday. Mersin Gelisim dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Nevsehir Uni's 28. Mersin Gelisim forced 22 Nevsehir Uni turnovers and outrebounded them 39-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American center Leeza Burdgess (194-90, college: La Salle) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Cisem Incel (172-94) helped adding 10 points and 6 assists. Four Mersin Gelisim players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Belgin Onbasi (177-82) responded with 17 points and 4 assists and Nazlican Olcek (186-95) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Mersin Gelisim. Newly promoted Mersin Gelisim maintains seventh place in Group A with 9-10 record, which they share with Anadolu Univ. Loser Nevsehir Uni keeps the sixth position with 69 games lost. Mersin Gelisim will face Mudanya (#12) in Bursa in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
