Second Stage Round 6: Atletico - Sangalhos 72-53

Date: March 5, 2016
Very expected game in Lisboa where 8th ranked Sangalhos (3-9) were crushed by third ranked Atletico (7-5) 72-53 on Saturday. Atletico dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Sangalhos' 26. Atletico forced 19 Sangalhos turnovers. The former international forward Sergio Ramos (200-75) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Jose Torres (182-91) chipped in 10 points and 5 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Nuno Bizarro (192-80) with 9 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) scored 9 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Atletico have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Places 1-8 with 7-5 record having four points less than leader Illiabum. Sangalhos at the other side dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Angra. Atletico will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sangalhos will play at home against Benfica B (#4) and are hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
