Regular Season Round 20: Galatasaray - Usak 92-84

There was no surprise in Istanbul where 7th ranked Usak Sportlif (10-10) was defeated by third ranked Galatasaray (14-6) 92-84 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-11. But Usak Sportlif won third quarter 27-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Galatasaray made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Usak Sportlif outrebounded Galatasaray 39-26 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Usak Sportlif's players. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Caleb Green (203-85, college: ORU) who scored 19 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Swingman Paul Harris (193-86, college: Syracuse) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and guard D'Angelo Harrison (193, college: St.John's) added 17 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Galatasaray maintains third position with 14-6 record behind leader Anadolu Efes. Loser Usak Sportlif keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Galatasaray will face TED Kolejliler (#11) in Ankara in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Usak Sportlif will play at home against Banvit BK (#4) and hope to win that game.
