Regular Season Round 19: Khimik - SC Kryvbas 66-52

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked SC Kryvbas (22-5) in Yuzhny on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Khimik (21-3) 66-52. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of SC Kryvbas. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. SC Kryvbas managed to win third quarter 13-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimik forced 20 SC Kryvbas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by SC Kryvbas' players. It was a great evening for the former international forward Vladimir Konev (201-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Oleksandr Ryabchuk (189-89) helped adding 7 points and 7 assists. At the losing side point guard Igor Boyarkin (185-95) responded with 10 points and 5 rebounds and forward Maxim Nikitin (201-89) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Khimik have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 21-3 record behind leader SC Kryvbas. Newly promoted SC Kryvbas still keep top position with five games lost. Khimik are looking forward to face VolinBasket (#8) in Lutsk in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. SC Kryvbas will play at home against Infiz Basket (#9) and are hoping to win this game.
