Regular Season Round 30: Dzukija - Siauliai 79-86

There was no surprise in Alytus where 10th ranked Dzukija (6-21) was defeated by sixth ranked Siauliai (12-15) 86-79. It looked good early as Dzukija took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Siauliai had a 25-17 second period charge getting the lead and Dzukija was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-86. 24 personal fouls committed by Dzukija helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Cameron Ayers (196-91, college: Bucknell) supported him with 17 points. Five Siauliai players scored in double figures. Even 23 points and 5 rebounds by power forward Julius Jucikas (205-89) did not help to save the game for Dzukija. Forward Osvaldas Macernis (200-82) added 13 points and 6 rebounds. Dzukija's coach Andrej Urlep let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Siauliai maintains sixth position with 12-15 record. Dzukija at the other side stay at the bottom place with 21 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
