Regular Season Round 30: Zalgiris - Juventus 84-86

Top ranked Zalgiris (24-3) recorded its third loss in Kaunas on Monday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Juventus (14-13) 86-84. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Zalgiris. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Juventus dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris' 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Chavaughn Lewis (196-93, college: Marist) who scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international power forward Egidijus Dimsa (204-85) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Five Juventus players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian power forward Brock Motum (208-90, college: Washington St.) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds and international guard Edgaras Ulanovas (197-92) added 13 points respectively. Zalgiris' coach Sarunas Jasikevicius rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Juventus moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Vytautas. Defending champion Zalgiris still keeps top position with three games lost. Juventus will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zalgiris will play again on the road against Juventus in Utena and is hoping to win this game.
