Regular Season Round 33: Fortuna - Aistes-LSU 71-61

Rather expected game in Klaipeda where 7th ranked Aistes-LSU (2-21) was defeated by fifth ranked Fortuna (6-16) 71-61. The game was mostly controlled by Fortuna. Aistes-LSU was better in fourth quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fortuna forced 21 Aistes-LSU turnovers and outrebounded them 49-26 including a 23-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Center Justina Matuzonyte (195-94) nailed a double-double by scoring 31 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Kriste Druskyte (180-92) accounted for 8 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. Guard Ieva Stankeviciute (177-89) came up with 24 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and forward Goda Ziutelyte (175-93) added 10 points respectively for Aistes-LSU in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fortuna maintains fifth place with 6-16 record. Aistes-LSU lost their eighteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Fortuna will play against higher ranked Kibirkstis-VICI (#3) in Vilnius in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aistes-LSU will have a break next round.
