Second Stage Round 4: Pitesti - Gaz Metan 84-60

Date: March 9, 2016
Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Gaz Metan (4-22) was outplayed on the road by tenth ranked Pitesti (10-16) 84-60 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Pitesti. Gaz Metan was better in third quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pitesti dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Gaz Metan's 24. They outrebounded Gaz Metan 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Ukrainian Maksym Pustozvonov (200-87) fired 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Five Pitesti players scored in double figures. The former international center Ionut Dragusin (221-85) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and Lithuanian Vaidotas Peciukas (199-82, college: Hawaii) added 15 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pitesti moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Rovinari. Loser Gaz Metan stay dead last with 22 lost games. Pitesti will face BC Timisoara (#11) on the road in the next round. Gaz Metan will play against Phoenix Galati and hope to win that game.
