No shocking result in a game in Lutsk where second ranked Khimik (23-3) smashed 8th ranked VolinBasket (4-24) 111-74 on Friday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 23-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 111-74. Khimik dominated on the defensive end, holding VolinBasket to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to VolinBasket's 28 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Khimik forced 24 VolinBasket turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. VolinBasket was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Vitali Malchevskiy (204-87) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Viacheslav Petrov (203-94) chipped in 19 points and 4 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Khimik players scored in double figures. Guard Nikola Polyulyak (192-90) produced 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Russian forward Stanislav Dikiy (201-88, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Khimik have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 23-3 record behind leader SC Kryvbas. VolinBasket lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth place with 24 games lost. Khimik will face Mykolaiv (#5) in Mykolaiv in the next round. VolinBasket will play at home against Infiz Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
