Very expected game in Bursa where 12th ranked Mudanya (2-18) was rolled over by seventh ranked Mersin Gelisim (10-10) 89-55 on Saturday. Mersin Gelisim dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Mudanya's 38. They outrebounded Mudanya 50-27 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mersin Gelisim looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Mudanya's players. The best player for the winners was American center Leeza Burdgess (194-90, college: La Salle) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Ilknur Yildizhan (186-96) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Mersin Gelisim's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Merve Alkis (-94) produced 19 points and 4 assists and Ayca Okutan (-88) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Mersin Gelisim have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place in Group A. Mudanya lost eighth consecutive game. Mudanya at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the twelfth position with 18 games lost. Mersin Gelisim will face league's leader Ormanspor in Ankara in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Mudanya will play on the road against Fenerbahce (#10) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
