Regular Season Round 31: Lietkabelis - Zalgiris 70-90

LKL top team - Zalgiris (25-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Lietkabelis (11-17) in Panevezys 90-70. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. Lietkabelis was better in fourth quarter 20-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Zalgiris especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. It was a great evening for international Martynas Pocius (196-86, college: Duke) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The former international Renaldas Seibutis (196-85) helped adding 15 points. At the losing side international guard Zygimantas Janavicius (192-89, agency: Interperformances) responded with 19 points and Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 25-3 record. Lietkabelis lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 17 games lost. Zalgiris will play against Juventus (#5) in Utena in the next round. Lietkabelis will play on the road against P.Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
