The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Anadolu Efes as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Anadolu Efes defeated 8th ranked Besiktas in Istanbul 79-72. It was a good game for American forward Derrick Brown (202-87, college: Xavier) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. American-Slovenian center Bryant Dunston (203-86) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Anadolu Efes' coach Dusan Ivkovic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) added 19 points in the effort for Besiktas. Four Besiktas players scored in double figures. Anadolu Efes have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Besiktas at the other side keeps the eighth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Usak. Besiktas will play next round against Royal Hali trying to get back on the winning streak. Anadolu Efes will try to continue on its current victory against sixteenth ranked Turk Telekom in Ankara.
