Second Stage Round 13: Zalgiris II - Telsiai 80-47

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Telsiai's (15-23) road loss to sixth ranked Zalgiris II (19-18) 47-80 on Friday. The game without a history. Zalgiris II led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Telsiai's 26. They outrebounded Telsiai 38-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Power forward Laurynas Birutis (210-97) stepped up and scored 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and power forward Martynas Echodas (204-97) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side forward Audrius Maneikis (203-84, college: Motlow St. CC) responded with 9 points and 8 rebounds and center Nerijus Barauskas (207-92) scored 8 points. Telsiai's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Zalgiris II moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Palanga and Perlas-MRU. Newly promoted Telsiai keeps the seventh position with 23 games lost. Zalgiris II will face league's leader Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
