Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Akhisar Bld (11-16) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Gediz (19-8) 63-58 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-5. But Akhisar Bld won third quarter 18-6. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gediz dominated on the defensive end, holding Akhisar Bld to just 5 points in first quarter. It was a great evening for guard Serhat Ugur (192-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 5 assists. Bosnian-Slovenian center Hasan Rizvic (212-84) helped adding 9 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was center Hakan Yapar (202-84) with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard K.T. Harrell (193-92, college: Auburn) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Akhisar Bld's coach Zafer Aktas tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gediz moved-up to third place, which they share with Denizli. Loser Akhisar Bld dropped to the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Gediz will face Bandirma Kir. (#16) in Balikesir in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Akhisar Bld will play on the road against Sakarya BSB in Sakaraya and hope to win that game.
