We should mention about the upset which took place in Varna, where higher ranked Cherno More (11-11) lost at home to ninth ranked Academik Plovdiv (5-17) 62-79 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 17 points. Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic (201-90, agency: Interperformances) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Oscar Bellfield (187-90, college: UNLV) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. Four Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Simeon Iliev (204-89, agency: Interperformances) responded with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Cypriot guard Angel Natskin (184-93) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Newly promoted Academik Plovdiv maintains ninth position with 5-17 record. Loser Cherno More keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. Academik Plovdiv will meet higher ranked Spartak Pleven (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cherno More will play against Beroe in Stara Zagora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
