Regular Season Round 27: Afyon - Acibadem 85-74

The game between second ranked Acibadem (21-6) and eighth ranked Afyon (13-14) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Acibadem was defeated by Afyon in Afyonkarahisar 85-74. The game was mostly controlled by Afyon. Acibadem managed to win fourth quarter 27-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 27 personal fouls committed by Acibadem helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American center David Weaver (207-87, college: Wake Forest) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). His fellow American import guard Marcus Hall (185-85, college: Colorado) helped adding 17 points and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was guard Recep Dogrusoz (192-86) with 17 points and American power forward Sharrod Ford (206-82, college: Clemson) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Acibadem's coach Alp Bayramoglu rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Afyon moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Gelisim. Newly promoted Acibadem keeps the second position with six games lost. Afyon is looking forward to face Eskisehir Basket (#11) in Edirne in the next round. Acibadem will play at home against Socar Petkim (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
