There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Bakospor (0-21) was outleveled by sixth ranked Mersin Uni (10-11) in Gaziantep 89-39 on Saturday. Mersin Uni held Bakospor to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 56.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Mersin Uni forced 24 Bakospor turnovers and outrebounded them 41-29 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Bakospor's players. It was a good game for Fatmanur Karaka who led her team to a victory with 23 points and 4 assists. Goken Fitik contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Mersin Uni's coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gulay Ozcan answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds and Ayenur Ozta added 4 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Bakospor. Mersin Uni maintains sixth place in Group B with 10-11 record. Bakospor lost their twenty first game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 21 games lost. Mersin Uni will face Alanya Bld (#10) at home in the next round. Bakospor will play against TED Ankara and hopes to get finally their first victory.
