Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Edirne and 12th ranked Yakin Dogu had identical 7-15 record. This time Edirne used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Lefkosa 79-72 on Sunday night. Strangely Yakin Dogu outrebounded Edirne 46-29 including a 18-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Ivory Latta (168-84, college: N.Carolina) who scored 24 points and 7 assists. Her fellow American import center Stefanie Dolson (196-92, college: Connecticut) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Belarusian center Yelena Leuchanka (196-83, college: W.Virginia) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds and American forward Alyssa Thomas (188-92, college: Maryland) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Yakin Dogu players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Edirne. They maintain eleventh place with 8-15 record. Yakin Dogu lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Edirne will face Adana ASKI (#13) in Mersin in the next round. Yakin Dogu will play at home against Mersin and will have a slim chance for a victory.
